Book Signing, Fall Break Fun and More as Part of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame's October Lineup

OKLAHOMA CITY, OCTOBER 6, 2025 – The Oklahoma Hall of Fame has a full month of events including a book signing, free Saturday museum admission, fall break family fun, and board and scholarship deadlines.

ONE LUCKY COWBOY BOOK SIGNING WITH BURNS HARGIS AND MIKE TURPEN ON OCTOBER 9

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame will host a book signing on Thursday, October 9 for its latest publication, One Lucky Cowboy: The Life of Burns Hargis. In the book, authors Bob Burke and Gary Shutt tell the story of Hargis' life and career. It chronicles his time as a lawyer, Bank of Oklahoma Vice Chairman, and Oklahoma State University President and shares insights into the incredible life of public service that Burns Hargis and his wife Ann have led. The book signing will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum. Signed copies will be available for purchase, and Burns Hargis and Mike Turpen will share remarks at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public One Lucky Cowboy is also available online at https://scissortailgifts.com/collections/books.

SECOND CENTURY BOARD APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON OCTOBER 12

Applications for the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Second Century Board board close on Sunday, October 12, 2025. The Second Century Board is a group of young professionals, 40 and under, dedicated to supporting the mission of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame to tell Oklahoma's story through its people. The board organizes the annual Oklahoma Born & Brewed fundraiser that supports free educational and cultural programs at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and hosts multiple outreach events. FREE FAMILY FUN AT SECOND OHOF SATURDAY ON OCTOBER 11

Guests are invited to visit the Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum on Saturday, October 11 for free admission and activities. Second OHOF Saturday programming is held on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These days are full of fun for the whole family, including scavenger hunts, crafts, story time, and opportunities to learn about the many inspirational Oklahomans featured in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. $6,000 SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS CLOSES OCTOBER 17

Applications for the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17. This $6,000 scholarship is awarded annually to one Oklahoma high school senior who displays outstanding leadership, community involvement, academic achievement, and knowledge of our state. Any student who commits to attend an in-state college or university is eligible to apply. The scholarship recipient will be honored at the 98th Annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Tulsa on November 13. FALL Y'ALL FREE FALL BREAK ACTIVITIES HAPPENING OCTOBER 15, 16, 17

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame will host its annual Fall Y'all event on October 15, 16, and 17. This program provides free fun for the whole family over the week of fall break. Each day has a unique theme with crafts, story time, and a featured Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member. Guests are invited to explore the museum, enjoy games and activities, and paint pumpkins. The theme for Wednesday is "My First Rodeo" featuring a cowboy hat craft and Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member Clem McSpadden. Thursday's theme is "Cozy Up" featuring a quilting craft and Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member Lela O'Toole.
