Depth and Space Exhibit Opening Soon at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame

OKLAHOMA CITY - SEPTEMBER 16, 2026: The Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum will open its latest art exhibit, Depth and Space, on Tuesday, September 22. This exhibit brings together abstract, geometrically grounded works that challenge the traditional boundaries of fine art mediums. A gallery reception will be held on Thursday, September 24 at the Museum.
The works in Depth and Space blur the line between two-dimensional surfaces and three-dimensional relief forms. The Oklahoma artists featured in the exhibit use a variety non-traditional materials to create unexpected juxtapositions that transform how light, shadow, and texture interact on the gallery wall. Visitors are invited to view the work from multiple angles to explore the shifting perceptual depth captured in these unique pieces.
"Depth and Space offers our community a quiet, necessary pause," said Mattie Barlow, Curator of Collections & Exhibitions at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. "Learning to slow down and hold our attention on a single object is rare today, but it completely changes how we experience art. This fall, I challenge our visitors to find one piece in this exhibition and look at it for five or ten minutes. Depth and Space will be on display from September 22 to December 12 in the Tulsa World | Lorton Family Gallery at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum. The exhibit is partially funded by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.

The reception for Depth and Space will be held on Thursday, September 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Guests can also view the exhibit Tuesday through Saturday during regular Museum hours.
