Free Summer Program in June & July Features Inspiring Oklahomans

OKLAHOMA CITY – MAY 29, 2025 – Free summer fun is back at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame! Attendees of Summer Thursdays will enjoy free admission to the Gaylord-Pickens Museum plus free crafts, art activities, games and story time. The program runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays in June and July. Activities are available for all ages, but primarily focused on ages 3-10.
Each Summer Thursday will feature a different theme and Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member. Themes will include: music, baseball, astronomy, ballet, ranching, art, and more. Multiple community partners will participate throughout the summer to help elevate the activities available to families.
"Summer Thursdays are the perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together and at the perfect price...FREE!" said Kirsten Therkelson, Manager of Museum Education. "From working with local artists on a community art project to constructing instruments, there will be engaging activities for all ages. Plus each week attendees will get to learn a little more about some of our inspiring Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members."
Program dates, themes and featured Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members are:
- June 5 - Back at the Ranch - Terry Stuart Forst
- June 12 - The Great Art Hunt (community art project) - Laura Clubb
- June 19 - Vets & Pets - John Montgomery
- June 26 - Across the Universe (astronomy) - Jens Rud Nielsen
- July 10 - Magical Melodies (music) - Charlie Christian
- July 17 - Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Mickey Mantle
- July 24 - Get to the Pointe (ballet) - Maria Tallchief
- July 31 - Dress Like Your Favorite Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member - Anna B. Korn
There will not be a Summer Thursday on July 3. Join the Facebook Event to receive updates about the program and themes. Summer Thursdays are a come and go event; registration is not required for families planning to attend. However, to ensure appropriate amounts of craft/art supplies and space during story time, daycares and child care facilities are asked to register ahead of time online.
