Summer Thursdays Program Offers Free Admission to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum in June and July

OKLAHOMA CITY - JUNE 9, 2026: The Oklahoma Hall of Fame's Summer Thursdays kicked off last week, offering free admission to the Gaylord-Pickens Museum in Oklahoma City on Thursdays in June and July. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with new themes and activities each week.
Summer Thursdays are one of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame's Free Family Fun programs, designed to help Oklahomans of all ages engage with the state's inspiring stories. Scheduled events include story time at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. as well as Museum tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Guests can learn about a featured Oklahoma Hall of Fame Member and enjoy a variety of crafts, games, and community partner activities.
Daycare groups are welcome and invited to schedule an arrival time to ensure their group can stay together for each of the activities. The daycare form is available here and can also be found on the Oklahoma Hall of Fame website.
"Summer Thursdays bring people together for days that are full of fun and hands on learning," said Kirsten Therkelson, Manager of Museum Education. "We love seeing new faces and regular visitors alike get excited about each week's special crafts and activities. There is truly something for everyone to enjoy."
Themes and dates for upcoming Summer Thursdays are:
- June 11 - Journey to the Jurassic
- June 18 - Dress for Success
- June 25 - A Lakely Story
- July 9 - Routin' Around Oklahoma
- July 16 - Sooner State Superheroes
- July 23 - Prairie Picassos
- July 30 - Take the Stage.
Please note there will be no programming on Thursday, July 2 ahead of the holiday weekend.
Guests can enjoy the courtyard garden, beat the heat with indoor activities, and view the Museum's temporary exhibits. Recent installs include the OVAC Members Show art exhibit and the Education Advocates & Teachers historic exhibit. Accessibility resources are also available, including a calming room and sensory backpack.
